A BATHING APE is leaning into comfort as of late. The iconic Japanese streetwear brand recently partnered with Crocs for a trio of camouflage colorways of the Echo RO Clog with the Shooting Star logo affixed to the sports mode strap. They’ve even gone to make running more comfortable with a mismatched remix of the adidas EVO SL. With a handful of collabs in the rearview, the APE is staying in-house for its incoming summer-ready slides.
BAPE Slide Details
Most of the time, BAPE uses its camo print motif as a simple pattern, but the new slides take it a step further, carving the print into the curvy shapes of the slides. Only on the forefoot and heel of the slide does the APE head make a discernible appearance, with the rest of the shapes creating an organic pattern. Despite the pop of the textural heads, the coloration of the BAPE slide opts for a low-profile look.
While the trio of Crocs clogs came in red, blue, and purple, BAPE’s in-house slides are serving up a pair of neutral colorways with beige and black options on deck. Underfoot, the BAPE Slide pays homage to the legendary BAPE STA, implementing the radial heel and Shooting Star detail found on the outsole of the latter.
