It’s not hard to see that running is having a major moment. Like the jogging boom of the ‘70s, which had footwear brands scrambling to drop new designs to capture this expanding market, the recent uptick in run clubs, Strava downloads, and general interest in specialized running has the likes of Nike and adidas dropping new silhouettes left and right.
For The Three Stripes, the Adizero Evo SL has reigned supreme, earning Runner’s Choice Shoe of the Year award in 2025, and since being graced with that honor, it’s been released in a variety of remixes. But now, adidas has created a takedown version of the sneaker that’s budget-friendly yet still maintains solid performance: the adidas Adizero Pacer.
Adizero Pacer Tech Specs

With a $50 price reduction compared to the Adizero Evo SL, which retails for $150, there is obviously a “downgrade” of sorts in the tech used in the Adizero Pacer. Gone is the LIGHTSTRIKE PRO cushioning, with standard LIGHTSTRIKE replacing the premium foam. That doesn’t mean it’s not comfortable; it’s just not as comfortable as the Evo SL.
Another change comes in the upper’s construction. Where the Evo SL used a thin engineered mesh for a breathable and lightweight feel, the Adizero Pacer has a thicker textile upper that is still soft and stretchy. The same general shape of the Evo SL remains here, but of course, with new materials, there are some slight differences. If you're just getting into the sport of running or want a comfortable and affordable pair of kicks, the Adizero Pacer is a solid choice.
