Anthony Edwards Shows Out for Filipino Hoopers with adidas AE 2 Magpakitang Gilas

It is impossible to overstate how much the Philippines loves basketball. If you thought the US had a thing for hoops, you haven’t seen anything compared to the scene in Manila. In turn, the country is also a huge sneaker market, with brands from Jordan and Nike to adidas all putting together pairs influenced by the Filipino basketball scene.

A Tribute to Filipino Ballers

The adidas AE 2 Magpakitang Gilas is a tribute to the Filipino national basketball team, aka the Gilas. Covered in blue, red, and white, with tiny yellow accents just like the national flag, the pair features a woven knit pattern on the blue side panels, red on the structural vents, and a blue-to-white gradient running from the toe to the ankle collar.

Yellow stitching running vertically up the vamp and tongue references the sun in the Philippines flag, with a custom tongue logo reminiscent of the Gilas jersey logo. Last but not least, an icy clear outsole sits underfoot, and a red adidas logo pops on the heel tab.

The adidas AE 2 Magpakitang Gilas will be released June 26, 2026, through adidas Philippines and select Filipino sneaker retailers in-store and online.
