When you’ve got an archive as deep as the one at adidas headquarters in Germany, it can be hard to know where to start and where to end when it comes to honoring history. For its latest salute to the Three Stripes’ running history, adidas is bringing back a tribute to the first ZX 8000 colorway and an ultra-limited return of the never-released AZX Final, representing a start-to-finish reprisal of one of the brand’s most iconic models.
Pulled from the archives as a tribute to the godfathers of the adidas Torsion and ZX revolution, the adidas ZX8000 JC & MT Consortium Pack takes its name from adidas performance designer Jacques Chassaing and pattern engineer Markus Thaler. Featuring two colorways of the ZX8000, the first is based on the debut Aqua colorway of the ZX8000 from 1989, with yellow accents on the side panel and midsole, and purple on the sockliner.
The second colorway is a grail for retro adidas heads, remaking the produced-but-never-released adidas AZX Final, a symbolic end to the AZX collaboration series that saw memorable partnerships with brands like Bodega, BSTN, and more. The AZX Final features a bright yellow upper with silver and aqua accents for a reverse flip on the OG colorway.
The adidas ZX8000 JC & MT Consortium Pack will be released January 17, 2026 through Overkill Shop in-store in Berlin, on Overkill’s online shop the next day, and through a global release in Feburary 2026. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150. For all the latest adidas retro news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
