Forget the clothing, Paris Fashion Week has been all about the sneakers. While attendees, models, and busy workers behind the scenes sweat in the 100+ degree heat (that’s Fahrenheit, not Celsius), brands from across the sneaker industry have been opening showcases across town, debuting new collabs, silhouettes, and colorways. At New Balance, the latest silhouette comes from frequent brand collaborator, AURALEE.
Turning a Classic into a Driving Shoe
The AURALEE x New Balance 574 Driver is the latest low-profile silhouette from the Boston-based brand’s lifestyle line, adding another slipper collab from Japanese fashion label AURALEE. Stripping down the legendary New Balance 574 to its most basic form, the slipper-style 574 takes its name from its driving shoe shape.
Arriving in two sample colorways, Black and Blue, the Black pair features suede on the toe panel that curves around the side panels, the lace panel, and the “N” logo, while a soft greyish fabric covers the rest of the upper. A barely visible thin midsole adds more black. The Blue pair features a two-tone makeup with dark blue on the suede and a lighter shade in between. An NB logo is added to the tongue, and an AURALEE hit brings co-branding to the insoles.
