By the time shoes arrive at retail, the process has been packaged and boxed up, but before they hit your feet, every sneaker is made through design, testing, production, QC, and more, and that takes people. At New Balance’s Made in UK factory in Flimby, England, the employees responsible for crafting your kicks recently got an upgrade to their lunch break locale, with a matching pair of collab kicks coming soon to match.
Planting a New Pair
The Bleue Burnham x New Balance Made in UK project is more than just a sneaker collab. The London-based jewelry brand designed a massive garden at New Balance’s Flimby factory, mixing gorgeous rows of flowers and trees in a carefully curated plot next to the factory. To match the garden, a collab shoe colorway is expected to drop soon, bringing more Bleue Burnham energy to Flimby.
“The garden has been conceived as a restorative environment where employees can step away from the production floor and spend time immersed in nature,” a press release about the endeavor reads. “The project marks a celebration of the skilled people behind the products, while bringing together two brands united by a shared passion for craft and the creativity of the natural world.”
