Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 Cover

If you were gaming in the early 2010s, you definitely hopped on the original two Call of Duty: Black Ops. Unfortunately, those on PlayStation consoles have been unable to go back and experience Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 unless they dusted off the old PS3, since Sony never made them backward compatible. However, Treyarch, the studio behind Black Ops 1 and 2, announced that both games would be ported to PS5 in July 2026. No date was given, and out of nowhere, both games dropped on the PlayStation Store on July 9.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 PS5 Pricing Info

Both Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 are priced at $40, so getting both will run you $80. That doesn’t include DLC, unfortunately, which costs an additional $30 per game. In order to get the full Black Ops 1 and 2 experience on your PS5 (or PS4) in 2026, it will cost you $140. Wild since both games are over a decade old, with BO1 dropping in November 2010 and BO2 in November 2012.

How to Save Money on Both Games

However, you can get both games plus their DLC for over 50% off if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, which, if you’re looking to play this game for the multiplayer mode, is a requirement anyway. Both games are priced at $20 for PS Plus subscribers, and the season pass, which grants you DLC access, is just under $10. So, with these savings, you’ll be able to get the entire package for $59.78. This discount runs until August 6, and that extra $80 in savings buys a lot of Doritos.

What’s Included in Both Games?

Treyarch confirmed in its initial announcement that both Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 feature the full campaign, zombies, and multiplayer.

Black Ops 1 and 2 Port Performance

Any time an older game is ported and brought to a new generation of consoles, there are almost always issues. Black Ops 1 and 2 are no different, with the ever-knowledgeable folks at Digital Foundry breaking down the performance. They haven’t dropped a video just yet, but their article breaks down the underwhelming stats for the port.

For BO1, the game is running at 1920x1080, which technically is better than the Xbox 360 resolution that Xbox users experience when running the game even on the newest consoles. But in 2026, many expect 4K resolution from “new” releases, and it wouldn’t be that difficult to get this game running in higher quality.

Still, if you’ve been looking to go back and visit Mason’s story, hop on the nostalgia train and run some zombies, or trash-talk in a multiplayer lobby, you’re finally able to do this on your PS4 or PS5.
