Darius Acuff Jr. might be the best example yet of the power of name, image, and likeness changes in youth sports. Acuff Jr., an incoming rookie for the Sacramento Kings, signed his Reebok sponsorship deal before he ever stepped foot on the court at the University of Arkansas.

Reebok’s Latest Signature Star is in Sacramento

Securing his sneaker future before his freshman year, Acuff Jr. followed that deal with the announcement of an upcoming signature sneaker before the Sweet 16 in his first NCAA tournament. With a signature model waiting for him, Acuff Jr.’s first Sweet 16 was his last, with Darius taking the leap to the league after his freshman season.

Now, before he plays his first NBA game, Acuff Jr. hit another sneaker industry milestone this week, with Reebok debuting his signature logo. Acuff Jr.’s logo is a classic initials flip, fitting an “A” inside a stylized “D.” In an ad made to debut the new logo, a solid block of concrete with the Reebok logo on the front starts to crumble, leaving a cement statue of Acuff Jr.’s logo behind.
