Here in the States, we don’t often hear much about the Chinese skate scene, but since the early 2000s, brands from across the industry have been taking filming trips to the country, taking advantage of the rapid-fire construction of new cities to skate perfect marble plazas and other dreamy spots. In Shanghai, skate culture has been around longer than some nearby cities, with “The Godfather of Chinese Skateboarding,” Jeff Han, founding his Fly Streetwear skate shop in 1999.
Flying High
Now, Fly Streetwear is the latest shop to get in on Nike SB’s first Air Force 1 collab collection, joining Amsterdam’s Ben-G, Instant in Japan, and Nocturnal in Philly. Unlike the other three shops, which saw their pairs leaked before they could preview them, Fly Streetwear got ahead of the sample leakers, debuting an IG video showing off the collab colorway in every true skater's favorite place to cruise…the airport.
Featuring a similarly simple two-tone design as the other three collab pairs, the Fly Streetwear x Nike SB Air Force 1 features a creamy off-white suede upper, with golden yellow accents on the Swoosh and heel tab. A Fly logo is circled on the lateral heel, with more yellow on the outsole sitting underneath a clean white midsole.
