New Balance Numeric came into the skate industry with purpose, setting up shop in Southern California across the country from the brand’s Boston headquarters. At the Numeric HQ, skateboarding is not a cog in the corporate machine; it is the beginning and end of every conversation. With the 770, a new skate silhouette based on old-school trainers, the Numeric team knew just how to roll it out, tapping cult favorite NYC fashion brand Grand Collection to bring some sophistication to the retooled retro model.
The Grand Collection x New Balance Numeric 770 pack features two pairs of the mid-90s cross-trainer in monochrome leather, one in black and the other in white. Launched under the tagline, “a more intelligent approach to building skate shoes,” the skate trainers are either a perfectly clean and simple approach to skate style or a grandad classic that would fit well on Larry David. Hey, maybe they’re both.
This is the first sneaker collaboration for Grand Collection, the brainchild of Canadian-turned-NYC local skate scene staple Ben Oleynik that mixes skate fashion with high-end pieces and held its first runway show earlier this year. With that in mind, the plain Jane 770s in premium leather add a bit of formality to the silhouette that has so far been featured in sporty retro colorways.
The Grand Collection x New Balance Numeric 770 will be released October 15, 2025 through Grand Collection, New Balance, and select New Balance Numeric retailers in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is still TBD. For all the latest New Balance collab news and release info, make sure to download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
