The Nike Mind collection has been the talk of the sneaker industry in the early weeks of the new year, with the scientifically molded, nub-soled slippers and low-profile sneakers selling out in less than 5 minutes on debut day. But while resellers wait for their stock to arrive and all of us who missed out wait for another shot to cop for retail, Nike is doing what Nike does, and already previewing a possible collab.

A fragment design x Nike Mind 001 sample popped up on Instagram over the weekend, courtesy of Japanese fashion and culture legend and fragment founder Hiroshi Fujiwara. The black, blue, and silver colorway keeps the Mind’s monochrome upper motif in black, but adds vented slits on the vertical column side panels and a more pronounced elastic in the forefoot that creates a multi-panel look on the bulky but sleek silhouette. Silver accents are added with a fragment design lightning bolt logo on the toe and a tooling code “Fragment Concept Testing Mind 001 SP26 - MNSPIN - 832,” a design theme found on many of fragment’s sneaker collabs, written on the lateral side of the shoe.

Underfoot, the set of 22 mind-activating nodes that sit halfway between the ground and your foot is redone in fragment’s classic blue color, marking the first time we’ve seen a colorway from Nike’s Mind collection that departs from bright orange on the nodes. More blue is added to a fragment logo heel bumper to complete the collab-branded mules.

As of now, there’s no info on whether this sample pair is a one-of-one from Fujiwara’s house shoe collection or a look at an upcoming drop. Adding a bit more mystery, the only caption added to Fujiwara’s Instagram preview was, “comfy slippers.” Rest assured, we’ll be on the lookout for more info on this pair of comfy slippers, and we’ll keep you posted on the Sole Retriever mobile app as soon as we learn more.
