Joe Freshgoods Just Teased a New Balance 1890 Collab

Joe Freshgoods has stayed quiet in the first quarter of 2026, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been cooking up in the background. The Chicago-based designer, who is one of many responsible for the hype that now surrounds New Balance, first partnered with NB on an ultra-limited 992 in 2020. Over the last five years, his portfolio has expanded to include collabs on the 990v4, 993, 510, 650, 1000, 2000, 990v6, and, most recently on the 2010. As we enter Q2 2026, Joe has popped out on Instagram to tease us with his take on the latest NB lifestyle silhouette, the 1890.
The photo included at the top of JFG’s latest Instagram dump shows a camo LV suitcase, with one of Joe’s signature sherpa hats resting on top, but our eyes immediately turn to what's busting out the side. Four shoes, each the same collaborative colorway of the 1890, are sticking out, with the 1890 logo visible on the top of the four. All we can make out is the color palette, which features a mixture of red and orange on the base and black on the overlays, as well as an NB logo and a new JFG emblem.
New Balance introduced the 1890 silhouette earlier this year thanks to a two-pack of collaborative colorways from Action Bronson, and since then, we’ve seen a few GR renditions pop up. The model takes inspiration from the New Balance 890v3, fusing the upper from this Y2K model with the tooling of the original 2002 performance runner. No, not the 2002R, which uses the tooling of the 860v2, but the OG 2002.
As of now, all we have to go on for this Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1890 collab is the single photo teasing the shoe. But when Joe posts teasers, that usually means a release is around the corner.
