The Asics sportstyle resurgence can be attributed to a few perfectly timed convergences of skill and luck. In addition to the good fortune of retro mesh runners coming back in full force across the footwear landscape, Asics had the sense to team up with Bulgarian designer Kiko Kostadinov for an architecturally inspired avant-garde approach to colors, shape, and detail.

The Kiko Kostadinov x Asics US7-S Gel-Kinetic Fluent is the latest iteration of Kiko’s experiments on the Gel-Kinetic Fluent silhouette, with its sleek Gel-Quantum pods taking the design to a futuristic race track. This time around, Kiko breaks out three pairs of the lifestyle runner, all with two-tone all-over print circle graphics covering the synthetic paneling.

Arriving in black, brown, and green, the three pairs all feature small, thick circles like a string of sequins streaming across the toe, lace panel, side panel logo, and heel. The rest of the upper keeps the Gel-Kinetic’s classic mesh upper. On the black pair, the two-tone circles are black and grey, they are yellow and brown on the second colorway, and green and yellow on the third pair. The rest of the support panels are criss-crossed with thin lines bunched up randomly vertically and horizontally.
