Kobe Bryant was part of one of the last senior classes of basketball talent eligible to go straight from 7th period to the NBA. While yes, it may be better for student-athletes to at least attempt a year of NCAA ball and schooling, the story of a fresh-faced 18-year-old having to face off against veteran players who may be closer to their parents' age makes for a great storyline. In Bryant’s case, he became one of the most legendary NBA players, and clearly the greatest to ever come out of Lower Merion High School in Philadelphia. Coinciding with the Protro of the Nike Kobe 5 Lower Merion, Nike has prepped two Air Force 1 Low colorways in the school's color scheme.
We first got wind of Nike’s tribute to Bryant’s high school last summer, though, since then, leaks of both the Red and White colorways have slowly hit the ‘net. Now, we have official retailer images of both pairs. Like other Kobe AF1s, the upper of the Bruce Kilgore-designed sneaker is rendered in a faux snakeskin, and Bryant’s logos are added throughout. His sheath logo is present on the lateral heel, the tongue tag, and on the insole, but the heel receives a new update on these two pairs.
Normally, Kobe’s sheath logo replaces the Nike Air text on the heel tab, but on both pairs of Lower Merion Aces AF1s, Bryant’s high school jersey number (33) is placed on the right heel. The left heel also receives an update, now displaying an ace symbol you’d find in a deck of cards. Finishing the sneaker is the “FOREVER” lace dubrae and a mini Kobe sheath logo on the vamp.
The Kobe Bryant Nike Air Force 1 Low Lower Merion Aces Pack will be released on March 23, 2026 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
