In a streetwear industry packed with golf-influenced brands, LA’s Metalwood Studio stands apart from the crowd. Born out of SoCal’s skate and art scenes, Metalwood has been a force in the evolving golf world, bringing clean detail to every catalog, opening a store in LA complete with vintage clubs and pro shop services, and collaborating with a vast rolodex of top-tier partners. For its latest multi-sport crossover, Metalwood is teaming up with adidas to redesign a classic football boot for skateboarding and golf.
The Metalwood x adidas Skateboarding Predator Sala is the first version of the Predator silhouette we’ve seen redesigned for skateboarding, and if you ask us, the remix is long overdue. Keeping the Predator Sala’s slim shape and folded tongue, the Metalwood collab covers the silhouette in monochrome maroon suede and patent leather. The recessed lace panel and extended toebox of the Predator are perfect for skating, which tends to tear up laces that sit too close to the lateral toe.
The Three Stripes has combined its golf and skate departments before, debuting the two-sport Rolling Links collection in 2024. “The golf fashion landscape today is getting influenced by numerous areas across sport, culture, and fashion,” Dylan Moore, creative director, adidas Golf said at the time. “Like golf, skateboarding is a sport where style is unassuming, individual, and with a little bit of attitude. We saw an opportunity to bring some of that design direction from our skateboarding counterparts at the brand to create something truly unique for the course and continue to push golf fashion in a new way.”
We’ve only seen a few early photos of the pair from its debut at Paris Fashion Week last year, but Metalwood recently announced a party in LA to launch the adidas Predator collab, so expect more info about the upcoming pair soon, along with another expected remix of the silhouette, this time with golf spikes underfoot.
