New Balance Unveils Tyrese Maxey’s Signature Sneaker, the Maxey v1

The NBA playoffs are underway, with Play-In games already taking place between Charlotte and Miami and Phoenix and Portland. LaMelo helped push his Hornets into the next Play-In game, which will take on the winner of tonight’s Philadelphia and Orlando matchup, but playoff picture aside, this is the time of year for sneaker debuts. Following an announcement that 76ers star Tyrese Maxey would get his own signature sneaker, New Balance and Tyrese are ready to debut his New Balance Maxey v1 for tonight’s Play-In game.

Unveiled via an interview with GQ, the New Balance Maxey v1 is a low-top model that features a wavy, organically-shaped upper that combines suede, synthetic leather, and TPU. Pod-like water droplet shapes form around the toe and midfoot, with the classic New Balance “N” logo placed in the center. The only visible branding for Tyrese comes on the tongue with “Maxey” spelled out above a “v1” tab. Inside, the sneaker houses FuelCell cushioning.

When asked about what he hopes people to feel when putting on the New Balance Maxey v1, Tyrese told GQ, “You know the way Anthony Edwards’ shoe captures his personality? I want that. When people put my shoe on, I want them to be joyful.” Tyrese also mentioned that the shoe is built for his fast playstyle, with grip and ankle support being the two biggest areas the model had to cater to.

Expect to see Tyrese Maxey lace up his New Balance Maxey v1 in the 76ers vs. Magic Play-In game tonight, and for the shoe to hit shelves later this year for $130.
