No one can hold a candle to Nike Basketball’s run in the ‘90s and early 2000s. Yeah, some brands have had hot streaks, but this one was legendary. You had The Swoosh pumping out now-iconic sneakers that still hold cultural weight, like the Foamposite, CB 94, Air More Uptempo, and producing cult classics that may be underappreciated.

Falling into the latter for controversial reasons is the Nike Air Bakin. While Nike quickly corrected its error (the original design of the Nike Air logo on the heel tab resembled the Arabic word for Allah), falling flat on its face out of the gate has relegated the model to become a rare retro. Now, after months of waiting for the OG colorway to come back, we have official images of that classic red, black, and yellow Air Bakin.

Last seen in 2014, the OG Air Bakin returns once more with a nearly 1:1 recreation of the original colorway, sans the stylized Nike Air script that got the model into some hot water. The sneaker starts with a black ballistic material around the toecap and mudguard before transitioning into a wavy red nubuck that stretches back from the toe to the heel. Below this sits a black mesh, which is more visible once you head over to the tongue.

Pops of yellow come via the laces and the Nike logo on the toe of the sole unit, while we see more red hits on the Nike Air logo atop the tongue and the heel tab. Finishing the upper are the black nylon pull tabs on the tongue and heel, and a white Swoosh on the collar. Down below sits a black foam midsole with an exposed Air unit in the heel and a black and red outsole, the latter color reserved for the flame-like cutout that reveals the cushioning system.
