Swooshman Fortnite takeover

It's been a big week for Nike's Swooshman. The iconic 1990s Nike mascot and superhero, once thought gone forever in hero retirement, made his triumphant return the other day as Nike's emerging tech arm, .Swoosh, shared a teaser video that can only mean one thing: we're getting a Swooshman GT Future.

Nike has all but confirmed as much with another exciting bullet point on Swooshman's resume getting revealed last night: becoming a Fortnite skin.

Fortnite players were surprised with the shock drop of two new Nike Swooshman skins they could play as in the game, as well as a variety of Swooshman-themed accessories to customize their character. Looks like my run as Dunder Mifflin Scranton manager Michael Scott is coming to an end, as Swooshman is a must-play for nostalgia's sake.

The one thing that really stuck out to gamers and sneakerheads with a keen eye was that each Swooshman skin had its own unique colorway of the GT Future equipped, neither of which we've seen before.

One looks like a dark blue version of the carbon fiber-clad Duke PEs of the GT Future, while the lighter steel colored Swooshman has a rendition closer to the silver GT Futures that were the first to drop at retail. However, both feature red Swooshman Nike logos that no GT Future colorway has been adorned with yet, plus Swooshman's head on the tongue. So, as far as we can tell, these are both brand spanking new.

Now, all we can do is wait to find out if one of these colorways is the one .Swoosh is teasing for an IRL drop soon. Guess we can kill some time playing Fortnite.

This isn't Nike's first time dropping into the world of battle royale, as they previously ran the Airphoria activation, as well as making a wide variety of classic Nike kicks, from Dunks and Shox to Cortez and Air Max 95s, available to wear in-game. Jordan has also gotten in on the action, bringing icons like the Nigel Sylvester AJ 4 Brick by Bricks into the digital battlefield.
