Nike Laced USC Basketball with Kobe 5 Protro PEs for the New Season

College basketball season is here and the PEs are pouring in. As campus stadiums fill up for the race to March, sneaker brands are hooking up sponsored schools with jersey-matching PEs in a handful of jealousy-inducing silhouettes. The latest school to pop up on Instagram flexing their team-issued gear is USC, who will lace up sneakers from another LA sports icon.

The USC men’s and women’s basketball teams both posted new images this week of three pairs of Nike Kobe 5 Protro PEs, a home white with red and gold accents, an away red with white and gold accents, and an alternate black colorway with gold and red accents throughout. The early NCAA hoops season has seen a few trends from shoe sponsors, with multiple schools lacing up Ja 3 PEs, Jordan schools wearing Jordan 40s, and now, USC joins Duke with its own three-pack of Kobe 5 Protros.

USC’s basketball season got underway this week, and the sneakers were shared on social media alongside the caption “Just in time for the home opener.” On Monday, USC showed out in front of the home fans with a rout of Cal Poly with some players rocking the new Kobes in the opening win. As for the women’s team, they suit up against New Mexico State tonight, and we expect to see more Kobe 5s on court.
