The Nike Kobe 7 Protro Joins the Halo Program in Fall 2027

Once Vanessa Bryant and Nike agreed to continue the Nike Kobe line, The Swoosh went right to work on bringing the Protro mantra to older Kobe sneakers. First up was the Kobe 8, which has enjoyed a steady stream of Protro releases over the last three years, with the Kobe 9, Kobe 3, and Kobe 10 joining the family since 2023. All of these models were reintroduced to the world through the Kobe Halo Series, which turns Kobe sneakers into all-white tributes to the late-great legend, so of course, when news of the Kobe 7 getting its first Protro release hit the ‘net, we were expecting the model to join the heavenly color story.

Nike Kobe 7 Protro Halo Details

Although we’re still unsure what the Protro upgrades for the Kobe 7 will be, we now know Bryant’s seventh signature sneaker, which originally released in 2011, is getting a Halo colorway. Expect to see the silhouette in a clean triple white build, with perhaps small hits of black somewhere on the sneaker, though that’s only been seen on the tooling of previous Halo releases. Joining the Halo colorway in the Kobe 7’s first run of Protro releases is the Invisibility Cloak.

On the original Kobe 7, the shoe featured a customizable tooling setup, with two drop-in midsoles included. These were dubbed “Attack Fast” and “Attack Strong.” On the Attack Fast, a Phylon foam midsole and Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel created a lightweight and responsive feel on the court, with ankle support coming from a low-cut power-stretch cuff that hugged your foot. The Attack Strong contained a full-length Cushlon midsole and an ankle cuff for a plush and comfortable ride. It’s possible Nike returns to this customizable system with modern technology on the Protro version, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Nike Kobe 7 Protro Halo Release Info

According to zSneakerHeadz, the Nike Kobe 7 Protro Halo will be released Fall 2027, though the release typically takes place on Kobe’s birthday, August 23. Expect a drop through Nike and select retailers online and in-store.
