As the updated Protro program continues to roll out new and vintage silhouettes and colorways, the latest model up is next year’s lucky number.

Hiding in Plain Sight

The Nike Kobe 7 Invisibility Cloak is the debut pair from the Nike Kobe 7 Protro line, following years-long runs of the Kobe 4, 5, and 6 Protro and this year’s focus on the Kobe 3, 8, and 10. First released in 2011, just as the rest of the NBA community finally started catching up to Kobe’s low-profile preferences, the silhouette is a perfect fit for the modern basketball landscape.

The Invisibility Cloak colorway first hit shelves in 2012, taking its Harry Potter-inspired name from the color-shifting mix of iridescent purple and teal that shifts shades depending on how the light hits it. The structure adds more shimmering color changes, with black snakeskin on the tongue and ankle collar to match the midsole. We still haven’t seen a full breakdown of the Protro updates on the model, but expect state-of-the-art cushioning, support, and traction.
