New Images Show Off the Soft Suede of the Wheat Flax Nike SB Air Force 1

If the year ended right now, the Nike SB Air Force 1 would be a shoo-in for our top five favorites. In a sneaker industry full of remixed classics, it's not often that a retooling actually brings improvement that you can see and feel. While we wait patiently for new colorways of the shoe in triple-black, navy suede, and eventually, a black and gum pair, new images just surfaced of the upcoming Timberland-style Flax colorway, to add even more hype to our SB AF1 obsession.

Taking another iconic Air Force 1 colorway, that itself was cribbed from the classic Timberland boot, the Nike SB Air Force 1 Flax is covered in a full coat of wheat tan suede. While in-line Forces are known for their creasing leather and frequent material switches, all of the in-line SB versions we’ve seen so far feature soft, skate-friendly suede. The only exception? Sample images of pro skater Yuto Horigome’s leather PE colorway.

The only break from the suede on the Flax colorway is mesh on the tongue and sockliner, and leather on the Nike SB Air heel tab. The midsole is the same tan color to keep things consistent, and like all of the SB Air Force 1s, the shape is redesigned with skating in mind, sinking the foot further into the footbed and adding more padding to the tongue, ankle, and heel.
