Anime has never been hotter in the sneaker space. Pokémon is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a Pokedek full of adidas colorways; Nike’s One Piece Air Max Plus collection attained instant grail status and immediately led to the announcement of a GT Cut 4 follow-up collab. That’s not to mention last year’s Air Muscle collab from Yu-Gi-Oh! and countless Crocs partnerships like the new Chainsaw Man pack.
Bending Air, Leather, and Suede
Now, even though Avatar: The Last Airbender isn’t technically an anime, Reebok is getting in on the hype by teaming up with one of America’s favorite Japanese-influenced TV and movie franchises, Avatar: The Last Airbender. Combining classic Reebok silhouettes with characters and crews from the franchise, the pack features an Engine A for Aang, a Club C 85 for his trusty sky bison, Appa, an Instapump Fury 94 for the brotherhood of Airbenders, the Air Nomads, and a Reebok Classic that brings the franchise’s themes together with details from all four nations.

The Air Nomads Instapump Fury 94 is the highlight of the pack, adding the orange airbender robes to the pumped-up retro runner. Aang’s arrow tattoo is added to the tongue with a 3M reflective finish and runs down toward the toebox. Inside, the insole hosts a graphic of Aang in Avatar form, with his eyes and the arrows on his head and hand done in a blinding white.
The Appa pair is a furry mix of brown shades with Aang’s “yip yip” command added on the back of the tongue. Like his master, Appa has an arrow on his fur, so of course Reebok brings this detail to life with a suede panel on the toe. The sneaker itself represents Appa perfectly, but an actual depiction of the flying bison is added to the insole.
Aang’s pair is ready to hoop with an all-over print graphic detail upper and light blue backing, which features a glow-in-the-dark finish, like the air he bends. On the heel sit emblems for the four nations: the Air Nomads, the Fire Nation, the Earth Kingdom, and the Water Tribes. Again, the arrow symbol is applied to the upper, though here it is reserved for the top of the tongue.
Finally, the Reebok Classic represents the series as a whole, with the sneaker done in a mixture of canvas and suede. Tan hues dominate, with emblems for the Air Nomads, Fire Nation, Earth Kingdom, and Water Tribes replacing the traditional “Classic” branding on the lateral midfoot. On the left tongue, a velcro patch allows you to rep whichever nation your heart desires, and extra laces match the colors associated with each element.
