Saucony is asking the hard questions with its latest collaboration, teaming up with newly formed design label a-feeling for a new sneaker release that hit the web without any photos of the shoe, instead showing a blurred out image of what looks to be a brown, purple, and green colorway on an unknown silhouette, with a red Saucony logo hangtag and “Science of WOW” branding the only selling points so far.
Putting the Blind Back in Blind Box
The brainchild of designer Drew White, who got his start in Boston at Bodega, but has since worked on footwear design and collaborations with Nike and Kids of Immigrants, Asics, New Balance, and more, a-feeling debuted on Instagram earlier this month, and the Saucony project appears to be its first release. On the a-feeling website, the product page for the sneaker collab describes it in extremely vague terms. “Be the first to Experience the Science of WOW! brought to you exclusively by a-feeling and Saucony - you got to believe it to see it,” the copy reads.
While you can’t see the sneaker before you buy it, a-feeling and Saucony are happy to provide a clear look at the box, with more “Science of WOW!” branding and esoteric copy harkening back to the days of 1990s sportswear marketing and promoting a Saucony GRID system, suggesting a ProGrid pair hidden beneath the blur.
