We all like to ignore it and can be blissfully ignorant of the fact that many sneakers sold ahead of release are stolen. Nike, retailers, and distribution companies are trying their hardest to crack down on potential theft, but even still, we see new stories pop up on what feels like a monthly basis. The latest sneaker to be affected by thieves is SoleFly’s upcoming Air Jordan 3 Retro collab
Miami-based sneaker boutique SoleFly provided Sole Retriever with the following statement:
“Multiple pairs of the SoleFly Jordan 3s and their boxes were stolen while in transit to Nike’s Memphis distribution center. Nike, Inc. is currently investigating the situation. Unfortunately, this incident may impact the timing of the planned release. We’ll share updates as soon as more information becomes available.”
A slew of resellers and accounts that often post early sneakers all received pairs of the SoleFly x Air Jordan 3 Retro Hurricanes in the last 48 hours, which clearly indicates that pairs have “fallen off the truck.”
“All of the pairs out there right now are stolen,” SoleFly added.

Nike and other brands account for shrinkage, but when it comes to limited collaborations, losing pairs in transit results in even less stock available to the public. We love to blame the “backdoor,” but stolen shipments play a much bigger factor than you might think at first.
Less than a month ago, the LAPD recovered an estimated $1.4 million worth of stolen Nike shoes that were traced back to train heists. Earlier in the year, a similar raid netted the Chicago police department a bust of over $1 million of stolen Nike and New Balance sneakers, while last holiday, $200,000 worth of Jordan 11 Legend Blues were recovered by CHP. The largest crackdown of the last decade occurred in June 2023 when the LAPD recovered over $7 million worth of Nike sneakers.
Unfortunately, this stolen shipment of SoleFly x Air Jordan 3s will potentially result in SoleFly having to delay the release of the sneaker. The pair was expected to drop sometime in the Holiday 2025 season, likely December. Once more updates are available, we’ll be sure to let you know here and via the Sole Retriever mobile app.
