Olympic ties run deep. Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors rolled into Phoenix last night for the first of two consecutive games against Devin Booker and the Suns, and as always, we were focused on Steph’s footwear. After stepping into the arena in an out-of-left-field pair of Marni x Hoka Bondi B3LS, Chef Curry kept up his regionally-inspired footwear choices in warm-ups and the game, lacing up two pairs of Nike Book 1s.
In warm-ups, Steph laced up the Nike Book 1 Chevy, and before tip-off, he switched into a pair of multi-color What The Book 1s. The Warriors eventually fell short with a one-point 98-99 loss, but after the game, all anyone could talk about was the on-foot connection between Curry and Booker.
“The day after he was done with Under Armour, he asked for a few pairs, and obviously, I sent him all the hot ones,” Booker told reporters after the game, adding that he was actively recruiting Steph to Nike. “I was happy to see him in them tonight.”
In his own post-game presser, Curry added, “I was trying to beat him in his own shoes. It didn’t work.”
The Warriors and Suns will both take the short trip to San Francisco today for a rematch at the Chase Center over the weekend, and Booker is already looking forward to the footwear, telling reporters that he was planning to hook Steph up with pairs of the Nike Book 2 before Saturday’s rematch.
