Steph Curry wasn’t always an Under Armour athlete. Before he crafted the Curry Brand at UA, Steph was team Nike, and during his sneaker free agency year, he’s taken a couple of opportunities to open the vault and bring us back to those early days in Oakland.
After finally breaking the seal and rocking a pair of LeBron’s first shoe ahead of the Warriors' match-up against the Cavaliers earlier this week, Curry pulled out a classic LeBron pair on Thursday for the Dubs game against the Lakers, rocking a Nike iD pair of LeBron 10s in Warriors colors that first saw an NBA court in 2013.
Steph took a night off and remained in street clothes and the LeBron 10s all game, leading LeBron to stop by the Warriors bench to chop it up with Chef Curry about the shoes. In a post-game interview, LeBron noted just how special it was to see Curry show love with his sneaker choice. “We’ve got one of the all-time greats…ever… to rock my kicks, that was super cool,” James said. “I think those were a colorway for him, and we made them for him when he was with Nike. Golden State colors look good on him. That’s special.”
The Warriors still have a few regular-season games left and the Play-In tourney games, so expect a few more surprises from Curry’s collection before the Dubs are done. To keep up with all of Steph Curry’s sneaker free agency news, head over to our Curry Watch tracker.
