There’s a lot of talk in video game circles these days about the prevalence of microtransactions within games, with game companies trying their hardest to squeeze every last dollar out of players for new gear, upgrades, and secret scenery. Before the days of online gaming and credit card-enabled gameplay, though, video games were full of microtransactions - one quarter at a time at your local arcade.
Perfect! K.O.!
Bringing back the OG stand-up dual player button-mashing and joystick jamming, Puma is teaming up with Street Fighter ahead of the Street Fighter film to turn three iconic characters into Suedes, matching one classic with another. Years ago, Capcom dropped Street Fighter sneaker collabs with Reebok and adidas, but more recently, Kith and Asics teamed up to create a Marvel vs. Capcom collection.
Featuring three pairs of Suedes, one for Chun-Li, one for Ken, and another for Ryu, the pairs mix suede toecaps with leather side panels, a Street Fighter tongue tag, and character-specific accents. The blue Chun-Li colorway mixes gold accents on the tongue and silver spiked studs across the side panels. The Ryu and Ken pairs are white and red, respectively, with thrashed-up side panel graphics and Hadouken graphics on the heel tab.
