It’s not uncommon to hear a college offering classes on the impact of popular artists, designers, or any influential figure in pop culture around the world. This sometimes crosses over into our world of sneakers, as is the case with USC’s latest course, The Creative Enterprise, which will cover everything Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack brand has built in music and beyond.
Unfortunately, Travis Scott himself will not be teaching the course, though we have seen his contemporaries like Virgil Abloh and Ye take the lecture stand. Instead, USC has announced that The Creative Enterprise will be taught by Josh Kun, Professor of Communication and Journalism at USC’s Annenberg School.
Weekly conversations will take place with “leaders across the extended Cactus Jack network,” so maybe Scott will make an appearance. More likely it will be key figures from behind the scenes, like Travis’ manager David Stromberg or others who help run the Cactus Jack brand. These conversations are meant to help students gain direct insight into the creative ecosystem of Cactus Jack, allowing them to see how creative work is built, scaled, and sustained at the highest level.
Those who attend USC can sign up for the Fall 2026 semester, but spots are limited. While we wait to see if Scott himself makes a surprise appearance on USC campus, download the Sole Retriever mobile app for real-time updates on the latest happenings in the sneaker world.
