The University of Kentucky Football Team Has a New Nike Kobe 6 Cleat

The NFL may be top of mind across the American sports landscape, but college football is a close second. Week 0 of the NCAA football season starts next week with a handful of matchups, including USC vs. San Jose State, Hawaii vs. Stanford, and New Mexico State vs. Florida State. Some cool matches for sure, but once the University of Kentucky takes the field during week 1 against Youngstown State, we’ll see the debut of a new Nike Kobe PE for the Wildcats.

Kentucky’s Latest Nike Kobe PEs

Kentucky’s football squad shared images of two Nike Kobe PEs made for UK, a brand-new one for on the gridiron, and another that we’ve seen before for the court. The Nike Vapor Edge Kobe 6 Cleat comes in a cookie monster blue hue, similar to the one we saw Caitlin Clark wear last year in the W, and features accenting hits of white and black throughout. White lace and a white tongue contrast the black hits on the Swoosh and Kobe signature branding.

For the off-the-gridiron pair, Kentucky shared a photo of the Kobe 8 Protro Kentucky Alternate PE. The pair was first revealed back in 2023 as Nike was rolling out the first Protros of the Kobe 8. White mesh covers most of the model, with blue hues accenting the Swoosh, heel counter, sockliner, and outsole.

Are the Kentucky Nike Kobe PEs Releasing?

Unfortunately, like virtually all NCAA player-exclusive kicks, both the Kobe 6 Cleat and Kobe 8 Protro for Kentucky will not see a retail release. Both pairs will be given to Wildcats student-athletes.
