Vans has reimagined itself as a luxury footwear brand. Sure, the SoCal skate innovators are still putting out Half Cabs and pro models for rippers like Curren Caples and Rowan Zorilla, but when it comes to the brand’s recently revived OTW label, the brand is skipping the skate shop for a trip to the jewelry store and luxury fashion houses.
Following pairs of classic Vans silhouettes inspired by Chanel’s Souvenir and La Habana handbag lines, the brand is back with a new purse pursuit, dropping two pairs of Slip-Ons inspired by Don C’s Air Jordan 2 collab, itself inspired directly by the classic Chanel Flap bag. Designer Greg Betty posted the pairs to Instagram with a caption noting both references: “Homage to first Chanel bag-inspired sneaker designs.”
