Nike was founded by a bunch of hippies. That’s not in any derogatory type of way; it’s just a fact. The company’s ethos in the early days was to be anti-corporate, and while they’re now probably one of the most corporate companies on the planet, they still let their counterculture roots shine through occasionally. A prime example of this is the Oregon Ducks x Nike collab with the Grateful Dead from late last year, which featured an Air Max 90 and a slew of apparel items combining the Oregon Duck mascot and the Grateful Dead’s iconography. Surprise! There’s more dropping from the trio this week.
Included in this new Nike Oregon Ducks Grateful Dead collab are two new tie-dye shirts, one long-sleeve and another a short-sleeve, each done in a pink, grey, and yellow finish atop a white base. The long-sleeve features the Grateful Dead bears marching along with the University of Oregon’s duck mascot, while the short-sleeve sticks to simple “Grateful Ducks” branding on the chest, reserving the dancing bears for the back. Inspiration for the two shirts comes from the Nike Sabrina 3 Grateful Ducks PE, which the UO basketball team wore last month.
With basketball being a major throughline in the new collection, Nike is offering a University of Oregon reversible practice jersey and even a basketball. The ball is done in all-black with Grateful Ducks branding, as well as a combo of the Grateful Dead skull logo and the Oregon Ducks. Final pieces include a spiral hoodie, which places multi-color Swoosh logos on the back, a black T-shirt with a large graphic on the back, and a corded hat.
The latest University of Oregon x Grateful Dead x Nike Grateful Duck collection will be released February 27, 2026 via Nike online.
