Nike SB has been careful about its Air Force 1 rollout. Joining the wave of AF1 hype all year, the skate side of The Swoosh completely redesigned the shoe to sink the foot deeper into the footbed, reinforce the upper, and cradle the foot in skate-ready cushion. To launch the shoe, SB took a carefully selected portion of the team on a tour up and down the East Coast and released a video and zine to match the debut drop.

Yuto Goes Coconuts

Now, before SB drops its first set of skate shop collabs on the silhouette with an international trip to four separate countries, the shoe is getting its first skater-specific colorway. Nike’s pick for the first collab was obvious: Yuto Horigome. The Japanese ripper has been a staple of the SB team for years now, with a perfect mix of video parts and contest bona fides, plus a couple SB Dunk colorways already under his belt.

On his first AF1 colorway, Yuto covers the skate Forces in leather for the first time, bringing a clean mix of white, grey, and Coconut Milk to the skate-ready silhouette. With leather on most of the upper, the side panels switch to mesh for breathability. The shoe needs it, too, with the typical AF1 perforations removed from the toebox. Beyond the debut pair, a second, more limited Yuto SB AF1 is on the way as well, with red accents and a laser-etched upper.
