Kool-Aid is a childhood classic. From the iconic commercials featuring the personified big red jug busting through walls to Kool-Aid Jammers and endless flavor options, the drink was a surefire sign of summer. For Ja Morant, Kool-Aid has been a part of his life since he was a kid, and after a Nike Ja 2 collab with the ubiquitous bev, he’s back with Nike for a second cup on the Ja 3.

The Kool-Aid x Nike Ja 3 has been on our radar since January, and now, with the release date coming next week, we’ve finally got a better look at the asymmetrical yellow and pink pair with co-branded tongue logos and icy blue soles. Along with the new look, Morant gave us a little detail about the motherly inspiration behind the colorway.

“The JA 2 Kool-Aid went crazy, so we already knew we had to run it back for the 3s and take it up another level,” Morant said. Obviously, Kool-Aid has been part of my life since I was a kid — that’s family, that’s culture, that’s real memories. And this one hit different ‘cause it’s even more personal. When I was talking with Nike about the shoe, my mom came up with the idea to do a Pink Lemonade and Lemon Lime colorway, and it just clicked. So yeah… Ma Dukes spoke on this one. And I hope this shoe means something special for moms and families out there, too.”
