Yesterday, news hit the ‘net that the legendary NIGO was teaming up with long-time friend Jun Takahashi to commemorate the duo’s Last Orgy 2 magazine column with a new version of the Nike Air Force 1 Low. That info came from a quick teaser post by NIGO himself on his Instagram story, but today, Nike and NIGO have officially unveiled the collaboration and explained the next chapter of NIGO’s partnership with The Swoosh in detail.

The duo first partnered in 2024 on the oft-forgotten Nike Air Force 3, and continued to work on the sneaker up until the start of this year. But this new project marks the first of many Air Force 1 collabs from NIGO and Nike. It’s not just a standard Air Force 1 Low ‘07 that we’ve been used to seeing on shelves for nearly two decades, but a reworked version of the model closer to the shape and construction of the 2001 AF1. NIGO and Nike designers went for the sleeker, vintage look of this era of Forces, adjusting the toebox to be more narrow and tweaking the fit for what Nike calls a “more athletic fit.”

For NIGO’s first-ever AF1, he recalls his Last Orgy 2 (LO2) column from the early ‘90s and the now-defunct NOWHERE boutique he and Undercover’s Jun Takahashi founded. The NOWHERE influence comes via the loyal blue patent leather and smooth sail leather on the upper, but LO2 is directly referenced on multiple parts of the shoe. The Number “2” is found on the lateral heel of the right shoe, while the insole splits “LO” and “2” between the left and right shoes. Final details include NIGO Air branding on the right shoe’s tongue, “LO” embroidery on the left shoe’s lateral heel, and a vintage-style box.

“As far as I know, the Air Force 1 is one of only a few silhouettes in the world that can truly be called a timeless classic,” says Nigo. “I never imagined in my dreams that one day I would be able to express my own style through the Air Force 1.”

Alongside this AF1 collab, NIGO has crafted apparel items that match the shoe. NIGO said, “The apparel collection is based on LO2 pieces we were making back in 1993. For people who weren’t around then, it will feel fresh and new; for those who know that era, it will evoke a sense of nostalgia.”

Going forward, future NIGO x Nike Air Force 1 Low collabs will draw influence from NIGO’s friends and his history in the fashion world, so expect to see more releases down the line.

As for the NIGO x Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘01 Last Orgy 2, the pair will release on May 1 exclusively via the Design Museum in London before a global release via Human Made and Undercover on May 2.
