Marcos Montoya is a perfect example of skateboarding’s new wave and the changing dynamics of pro sponsorships. The incredibly talented and supremely stylish 25-year-old from Fort Lauderdale has been on the radar in the industry for a few years now, but after the demise of short-lived board company maxallure, Montoya has remained without a board sponsor, instead putting most of his energy into work with his shoe sponsor, adidas, where his star is rising fast.
Montoya’s first adidas colorway hit skateshops today, adding a subtle mix of maroon and black patent leather to the Superstar. The Marcos Montoya x adidas Superstar ADV is a perfect two-tone mix that immediately reminds us of another iconic skate shoe, the Nike SB Dunk Low Milli Vanilli.
Featuring a black shell toe and plush maroon leather on the side panels, the lace panel, the Three Stripes logo, and the heel tab all add shiny black patent leather. The tongue is made of black leather to match more black on the sockliner and midsole, and Montoya’s name shines above the Stripes in silver.
The Marcos Montoya x adidas Superstar ADV Maroon was released today, May 1, 2026 through adidas and select skate shops in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $110. For all the latest adidas news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
