Adidas and acclaimed (sometimes controversial) menswear designer Willy Chavarria are back with another celebratory collection. Last year, the pair collaborated on a collection that paid homage to the ‘90s look with a signature baggy aesthetic. This year, the partnership continues with a Los Angeles-themed collection just in time for All-Star weekend.
In his Cleveland Cavaliers debut, superstar guard James Harden debuted a Willy Chavarria collaboration for his adidas Harden Vol. 10 that featured intricate rose style carvings that mimic Western belt buckles and boot tips. Chavarria is keeping that theme going with an adidas Superstar that enlists the famed Compton Cowboys for an LA-inspired shoe.
The Chavarria x Compton Cowboys adidas Superstar features a black leather base and outsole for a clean silhouette. Pops of white appear throughout the model, including the Willy Chavarria and adidas branding on the tongue. The Superstar’s iconic shell toe has been remixed for a more trail-appropriate look.
Taking inspiration from the filigree and design work found on cowboy boot tips, Chavarria gives the shell toe a silver remix with an intricate design. Willy and Chavarria replace the normal Superstar branding found on the medial side of the sneaker, while Compton Cowboys branding is stamped on the heel to complete the look.
