Philly Boutique Lapstone & Hammer is Sparking the Summer with an Asics Gel-Kayano 12.1

This summer marks the 250th anniversary of the American project, and while we’ve certainly got our gripes, we’re also suckers for fireworks, do with that what you will. In Philadelphia, the nation’s original capital, the city is gearing up for a summer of 250-year celebrations at all the landmarks from your favorite National Treasure scenes. Every firework needs a spark, though, and downtown Philly sneaker boutique Lapstone & Hammer is ready to light the match.

The Lapstone & Hammer x Asics Gel-Kayano 12.1 The Spark is the latest project from one of Asics’ most prominent local hubs, perfectly bringing the matchstick concept into sneaker form. Redesigning the Gel-Kayano 12.1 as a firestarter, the pair combines premium material with subtle color combos and a burst of strike anywhere red on the midsole.

Featuring a creamy off-white diamond-knit mesh on the base of the upper, the shoe kicks things off like the bottom half of a matchstick. A mix of metallic silver and black suede is added to the structural panels and stripe logo, while the red tip of the match is represented on the bright red Gel midsole.
