Kith is opening up the archive. The boutique with a serious Rolodex of sneaker partnerships is putting everything in perspective with a new coffee table book, Kith: The Footwear Archive. The 444-page book, made in collaboration with Assouline, highlights 1,849 footwear collaborations across 32 brands, including one new pair that’s set to drop before the month is up.
Kith Adds Another to the Archive
The Kith x Asics Gel-Lyte III Remastered Salmon Toe is the latest from Ronnie Fieg’s storied collab history with Asics, dating back long before the Japanese sportswear brand re-entered the hype cycle with its retro mesh runners. Back in 2011, when Kith first opened its doors, Ronnie and co. crafted the ultra-limited Salmon Toe Gel-Lyte III to celebrate, and it’s officially returning in remastered form after 15 years.
The Kith x Asics Gel-Lyte III Salmon Toe features a navy blue base, with white accents on the side panel logo and the midsole. The salmon toe switches over at the front of the shoe, adding a soft pink suede that evokes memories of simpler days in sneaker culture. The remastered moniker means that the shoe will be slightly different compared to your standard Gel-Lyte III release. Changes are ever so slight, with slight shifts in the shape, height, and placement of panels, logos, and even the tooling to get as close to the original Gel-Lyte III as possible.
