Although 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the Air Jordan 1, Jordan Brand isn’t slowing down in 2026. We were blessed to get an all-new Union Air Jordan 1 project at the top of the year, and have already seen two new pairs from the LA-based retailer in collaboration with Japanese streetwear titan fragment design, one in White Black and another in Sport Royal. Rounding out the trio’s collection of AJ 1s is a colorway that combines both collaborators’ best work into one.
The pair continues the ultra-premium build found on previous Union LA AJ 1s, with a combination of tumbled and smooth leather alongside hairy suede. Black paneling hits the mudguard, eyelets, and Swoosh, each finished in tumbled leather, while the black collar underlay is rendered in hairy suede. A Chicago-esque varsity red hue is used on the collar overlay, which features the signature enlarged Air Jordan Wings logo found on the OG Union AJ 1 project as well as the UN/LA tag. Overstitching on the collar, exposed foam on the tongue, a split color design on the nylon tongue, and two-tone white and black laces help finish the Union contributions to the model.

The royal blue hue that fragment design famously used for its Air Jordan 1 collab in 2014, and the subsequent Jordan 1 collabs with Travis Scott, is found on the heel overlay and outsole. Hiroshi Fujiwara’s label also applies the lightning bolt design to the lateral heel and the signature tooling code to the midsole. On the insole, we see sketches depicting the changes made to the silhouette, like the added branding details, redesigned tongue, and more.
As mentioned above, Union LA and fragment design have two other pairs of AJ 1s coming in 2026, but both collaborators have a fruitful history with Jordan Brand and one another. Union first worked on the Air Jordan 1 in 2018 in two colorways, the Black Toe and Blue Toe variants. Each combined elements from original AJ 1 colorways and contained DIY-esque finishes that have made their way to this new three-way collab with fragment. Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design launched its Jordan 1 High collab in 2015 to much praise, later working with Travis Scott on a high-top and low-top AJ 1 in 2021.
The fragment design x Union LA x Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Chicago Royal will be released Spring 2026 through Union LA, Nike SNKRS, and potentially select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $205. For updates on all upcoming AJ 1s and collaborations in the sneaker world, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
