With the hype and energy around the Air Jordan 1 at a low point compared to years prior, Jordan Brand looks to reinvigorate the model with a series of upcoming collaborations. Most notable among them is the triple-collab between Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design and Chris Gibbs’ Union LA. Both partners have released arguably some of the most coveted Air Jordan collaborations in the past, and joining forces will (hopefully) bring more fervor to MJ’s first signature sneaker. Previews of two colorways of the fragment design x Union LA x Air Jordan 1 High have already hit the ‘net, but thanks to Jeff Staple, a third colorway has arrived.
Design details from the original fragment design x Air Jordan 1 High and the DIY motifs of Union LA’s various AJ 1s combine here on a colorway that resembles the original Royal colorway of the Jordan 1. Premium tumbled leather is used on the portions of the upper that borrow from the AJ 1 High Royal, with the royal blue hues used on the toebox, Swoosh, and heel overlay. Black shades cover most of the upper, while the “stitched on” collar takes on a hairy suede finish in white.
