One of the great things about the Air Jordan 1 Low is that it can literally be inspired by anything. In the four decades that this silhouette has been around, it’s borrowed moves from fine art to global street culture. And now, with the brand new Air Jordan 1 Low SE Crafty Sail W, it pays homage to the DIY movement that seems to be getting bigger and bigger by the minute.
If you feel like you’ve seen the Crafty Sail W before, you wouldn’t be entirely wrong. Last week, we got our first look at the Turquoise Stone, and it’s clear that both sneakers share similar design cues. Working on top of a creamy Sail leather base, this AJ1 is overlaid with Soft Pearl and Light Smoke Grey panels across the back and front, respectively. A Swoosh glides across the sidewalls, but instead of keeping it plain, it’s encrusted with hundreds of shiny crystals that look as though they’ve been glued on as part of a handmade art project.
