Chinese New Year takes place at the beginning of the year, but for Jordan Brand, the celebration for the Year of the Snake has lasted all year long. After dropping the China-exclusive Jordan 1 High Xuan Wu earlier this year, The Jumpman is back with a low-top version based on the same mythological hybrid tortoise-snake deity.
The Jordan 1 Low Xuan Wu is covered in premium black leather across the entire upper, including the tongue and laces, with an ornate cloud-print design on the heel panel. The midsole is also black, but the outsole features a translucent tortoise-shell pattern in classic orangeish brown and black. The tortoise-shell theme continues to the metallic gold Nike Air logos on the tongue, replacing the traditional woven tongue label. Jordan Brand is also using the updated Jordan 1 Retro Low OG shape for this pair, a design trend that started with the Washed Teal colorway earlier in the year. In addition to the extra eyelet, the Swoosh on the midfoot is enlarged, and the shape of the midsole is altered.
