The original 14 Air Jordan sneakers that were released during MJ’s first two runs in the NBA have a few black sheep in the family. One of these is the Air Jordan 10, and while we appreciate the sneaker, it’s clear that Jordan Brand (and general sneakerheads) don’t show it as much love as we’d like to see. It’s essentially been sitting in the vault throughout the 2020s, as we’ve only seen six releases of the sneaker this decade, including the Steel Grey and Shadow retros from 2025. But it seems things are ramping up in 2027, as alongside the Red Steel AJ 10 getting a retro, Jordan Brand is launching an all-new Taxi colorway.
The Taxi theme is something we’ve seen across Jordan Brand’s releases, but it’s most famous for being one of the original Air Jordan 12 colorways. For this new take on the Taxi aesthetic, we’re expecting to see a primarily taxi yellow nubuck upper that is grounded by black leather details on the collar, eyestays, and tongue. A yellow and black checkerboard is present on the collar, and a pop of white and black hits the collar thanks to the embroidered “23” script. Underfoot sits a black midsole with a black-and-white rubber outsole.
Nothing too out of the ordinary for a Jordan 10 colorway thus far, but once you get to the heel, something new appears. Nike Air. Never in the history of the AJ 10 has Jordan Brand used Nike Air branding. When it was originally released in 1994, Tinker and Nike felt that Michael Jordan’s brand was strong enough to be on its own, so they used a Jumpman logo instead. Three years later, Jordan Brand would officially form and become a separate entity from Nike Sportswear.
According to zSneakerHeadz, the Air Jordan 10 Retro Taxi will be released May 21, 2027 via Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $215.
