The bond between Spike Lee and Michael Jordan is unbreakable. Despite Jordan torturing his hometown New York Knicks for years on the court, Spike and Mike built a connection through Lee’s legendary Air Jordan commercials starring his character Mars Blackmon from 1986’s She’s Gotta Have It.
The partnership between the two was so solid that Spike received two signature sneakers. One for Spike himself, called the Jordan Spizike, one for Mars Blackmon, the Jordan Son of Mars. Now the Jordan Son of Mars is returning to shelves, this time in low-top form, including the Do The Right Thing colorway from the original 2013 launch.
The Jordan Son of Mars is a hybrid model that combines the models that Blackmon contributed to from the Air Jordan 3 to the Air Jordan 6. The mash-up model implements the key colors found in the iconic theatrical poster for Do The Right Thing, specifically the royal blue background and the colorful title text. The sneaker’s upper—which melds the Air Jordan 6 and Air Jordan 3—is wrapped in a beautiful royal blue suede with matching blue elephant print overlays on the toe and heel.
Yellow highlights the sneaker with pops on the laces, the back of the tongue, and the speckled midsole borrowed from the Air Jordan 4, while a satin green makes up the sockliner. The Air Jordan 5’s reflective tongue plays a massive role in this Spike Lee joint, with red tongue shrouds with embossed Mars branding on the left sneaker and Lee’s 40 Acres and a Mule logo on the right taking a leading role. Hints of grey on the Air Jordan 4 heel tab and outsoles play a support while “Son of” and “Mars” dubraes on the right and left sneakers, respectively roll the credits.
The Jordan Son of Mars Low Do The Right Thing is set to release Summer 2026 via Nike and select retailers. Available in Men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $165. For all the latest Jordan news and release details, download the Sole Retriever app.
