New Balance has the game on lock from sea to shining sea. Not only does the Boston-based brand have a popular subdivision of sneakers constructed in the UK, but Teddy Santis of Aime Leon Dore fame helms its American counterpart, Made in US. The Made in US collection has been known for implementing elusive sneakers in its roster, like the legendary 992 and New Balance 1300, with these becoming regular sneakers in the rotation.
The New Balance 1300 was once the top-tier of running shoes upon release in 1985. The premium sneaker fetched a hefty price even back then, thanks to its then-revolutionary ENCAP midsole. The New Balance 1300 Made In USA Slate Grey leans into its premium status. It features all the hallmarks of a legendary New Balance silhouette, like a healthy mix of suede, leather, and mesh.

Devin Robertson is a writer and sneakerhead from Memphis, TN. Outside of sneakers, he enjoys film, comics, and music.
The silhouette features grey tumbled leather overlays, breathable mesh panels on the toe, and suede accents on the pre-aged ankle collar and the shaggy grey N logo. The pre-aged accents spill over onto the heel counter, which gets a yellowed look for that vintage feel. A hint of black is present on the heel, allowing the white New Balance branding to pop. An appropriately off-white-looking tongue tag adds to the retro vibe. The vaunted ENCAP midsole gets a two-tone grey coloration to complete the look.
The New Balance 1300 Made in USA Slate Grey will be released on June 11, 2026 via New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $225.
