Some colorways are immediately iconic, no matter where they appear. Black and red will always evoke thoughts of His Airness, and grey and green conjure images of the Air Max 95 Neon. It seems like Teddy Santis and New Balance are channeling the Fab Five and paying homage to the most iconic yet underrated colorways in sneaker history.
The upcoming New Balance 992 Made In USA in Team Royal brings Huarache vibes to the silhouette. The 992 has become a staple of Santis’ Made In USA collection since its official revival last year. Thanks to a blend of construction materials, the silhouette is a canvas for endless opportunity and reinterpretable in a range of styles, including tonal looks like the Olivine colorway or playful styles like Salehe Bembury’s recent take on the model.

Devin Robertson is a writer and sneakerhead from Memphis, TN. Outside of sneakers, he enjoys film, comics, and music.
The sneaker sports a royal blue mesh base for breathability and black leather supports throughout. Extra hits of blue appear on the USA branding on the heel cutout and the translucent TPU heel counter. The silhouette builds on to those darker hues, with clean white leather overlays on the eyestays that extend to the side panel. The mudguards switch from the pristine white to an off-white shade that wraps around to the heel.
At that intersection on the side panels, lay the purple N logo outlined in blue. Outside of the N logo, additional purple details add a bit of extra visual flair to the colorway, including on the heel tab, top eyelets, and the translucent ABZORB midsole.
The New Balance 992 Made In USA Team Royal releases on March 26, 2026, via New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Releasing in Men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
