New Balance is traditionally known for its greyscale color palettes (see the Grey Days celebrations) and elevated aesthetic. Still, in recent years, there has been an uptick in colorful releases from the label. Outside of collaborative endeavors, this has rung true in the brand’s Made in USA lineup as of late, with models like the 990v6 getting dipped in various primary colors. After the Avocado Natural Mint, and Inkwell Black colorways, NB will launch the v6 in a Community Red colorway.
Although not dipped in a monochromatic red color scheme like Joe Freshgoods’ take on the 990v6, this iteration does use a vibrant, deep red hue on much of its design. This shade is applied to the premium pigskin suede panels on the mudguard, midfoot, heel, and eyelets, while the cotton laces match this color. Pops of pink are on the perforated leather panels on the toe and midfoot, and smooth leather overlays on the collar and heel.
