New Balance knows a thing or two about maintaining and measuring its brand. The Boston-based brand has a wealth of runners, lifestyle shoes, and a burgeoning offering for the hardwood. New Balance knows the key is always providing new and novel takes, which is why they have consistently dropped new silhouettes throughout the year, including the New Balance 1890, which is getting three fresh colorways from New Balance’s frequent collaborator Joe Freshgoods.
One of their latest offerings in the lifestyle space is the New Balance 5030, the latest member of the ABZORB family. Originally debuted at Paris Fashion Week with a metallic collab courtesy of Slam Jam, the New Balance 5030 is glimmering with the Metallic Silver colorway that closely mirrors the Slam Jam collaboration but with slightly different hues and without the Slam Jam co-branding. The silhouette draws from the popular New Balance 530 that first debuted as a runner in the early ‘90s but has since transitioned into a lifestyle space.

That evolutionary DNA can be seen in the dark grey contoured lines that cut through the shining upper, allowing those wavy pieces to be even more visually distinctive. While the seamless upper brings the sheen with the metallic coloration, hints of grey throughout the silhouette help ground the colorway. The cloudy shade shows up on the breathable mesh sockliner and tongue, and the springy, supportive ABZORB midsole. Softening the shimmering shoes are semi-translucent ABZORB pods housed in the heel. Completing the look are dark grey elements found on the N branding on the side panel and tongue, as well as the heel counter.
The New Balance 5030 Metallic Silver releases on May 15, 2026, via New Balance and select retailers online and in-stores. Available in unisex sizes, the retail price is set at $120. For all the latest New Balance news and release details, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
