When New Balance debuted the Gator Run, the Boston-based brand covered the low-profile modern retro lifestyle runner in reptile skin fabric to bring the name to life with a classy-meets-sporty approach. For the follow-up to the croc’d out debut, the Gator Run switches animals with a full coat of shaggy fur-like suede.
The New Balance Gator Run Star Burst comes correct with a clean colorway covered in a creamy tan monochrome across the upper. Thick hairy suede runs across the toebox and side panels, with the same shade switched to nubuck on the lace panel, tongue, and side panel “N” logo.
The Star Burst name comes from the bright yellow hiking laces with black and white accents spliced in throughout. The midsole switches between textured black on the front half and more cream on the back half, with a black studded outsole that will always remind us of the Nike Astrograbber (in a good way).
